michael hatfield is a singer songwriter who began writing songs some 20 years ago, playing for friends and family. He started working with Beargrass Studios a few years ago to record an album (coming soon), beginning with “Our Montana Sky”. His music has been influenced across many genres, including James Taylor, Bruce Cockburn, Jason Mraz, Chris Stapleton, to name a few.
Michael began his Montana journey through his wife Libby’s parents, who then owned the Snowcrest Ranch near Alder, Montana. When running a cattle ranch became too much, they bought their home in Bigfork on Flathead Lake in the '90's, where our families enjoyed many summers. “Our Montana Sky” tells the story of our amazing experience in Montana - time on the Lake, fly fishing the Kootenai, trips to Glacier National Park – but mostly about family together.
The song was produced by local Whitefish talents Ross Bridgeman at Beargrass Studios and featured Hannah King on fiddle and harmonies. michael played the song on his sunken redwood top guitar crafted by luthiers Dave Boulware and Brady Turk of Bent Twig Guitars in Libby, Montana.
